To apply for a teaching job for the alternate route program or obtaining master in education

To apply for a teaching job for the alternate route program or obtaining master in education?
I have a Major in Computer Science and minor in Mathematics and am interested in teaching Math and computers. Would that be enough or would I have to take additional math courses to be able to apply for a teaching position (after I finish taking my necessary certification tests). When they say 30 semesters of Math courses, does that also include computer science courses and science courses? Also, shoudl I go through alternate route or shoul I go towards a masters in education instead. Thank You

Math teachers are in demand and most systems are always looking for good ones. I would suggest that you contact the personal dept. of a school system near you and ask them. You can also ask your college advisers if you are still taking classes. I do always suggest that if you can , get your masters degree. It will increase your pay by 5,000 or more a year in many areas. I was never able to get mine, but have 12 years teaching experience.

it depends on what your state requires. each state is different. Florida, for example, requires certain college classes and degree plus a state exam before receiving certification.

I am hoping to attain a Master of Education. Do I just apply to schools that offer the credential

I am hoping to attain a Master of Education. Do I just apply to schools that offer the credential?
Would I need to take GREs or other grad school exams to get into a masters of education program? Is it competitive to get into a M. Ed. program? I am an undergrad majoring in Psychology in California. Would it be better if I switch to education studies major? If anyone can give me any clarification, that would be great. Thank you!

M.Ed programs generally not competitive at all, even at better schools. GREs will definitely be required, but just scoring the minimum is enough. No, it wont matter if you switch.

Do you have to have a Bachelors in Education in order to get a Master in Education and teach high school

I am getting my BS in philosophy/honors degree but would like to teach high school humanities/philosophy courses. Would I need to have a BA in education before I could do that? Or could I get a Masters in Education and teach?

where do you live? In Canada - no. You have to have your Bachelors in Education - after completing your University course and your teachers college then you can teach.

You should be able to go in as a lateral entry. This allows you to teach in an area that you already have a degree, like you stated. You may have to go back to college to take a few courses as you work. Check with your local board of education to find out thier requirements.

No, you do not have to have your Bachelor's in Education to do a Master's in Teaching. My sister's degree was in Theatre, and she did a Master's of Education and is teaching. Another option, if you don't want to do a full Master's degree (2 years) right off, is to do a Post-Bachelor's Teaching Certificate. These programs are 1 year, intensive teacher training. (Classes in Ed Psych, Educational Theory, Student Teaching, Praxis Exams) I've heard good things about these programs, and just about every smaller state university offers this program. http://www.education.pitt.edu/programs/certificates.aspx Here's a link to some of these certifications offered at Pitt. (close to where I am)

I'd go for the Master's in Education, you can get the certification, but the Master's is just one or two more classes and they pay you for the Master's, the certificate, no pay.

I have a BA in Political Science and then received a MS in education and after that an ED.D. You would need to take sufficient courses in a field such as English in order to teach in a high school. Contact your state education department for an exact description of the requirements./

to master in education administration, should your undergrad be in education, or can it be in criminal justice

to master in education administration, should your undergrad be in education, or can it be in criminal justice?
Are you likely to get a job teaching high school history, and eventually in education administration, if your undergrad is in criminal justice? Or should it just be in history and a bunch of education programs?

Ironically my undergard is History and my master's is Educational Administration. It really doesn't matter what your undergrad is for an education administration degree, especially since a lot of teacher's my pursue and they have varied degrees.

What would a Master degree in education allow me to teach with a secondary undergrad in Michigan

What would a Master degree in education allow me to teach with a secondary undergrad in Michigan?
Currently I am a sophomore working towards my undergrad in Secondary Education, however, I'm wondering if I get my Masters in education later on if I would be able to teach elementary education or if I'd be limited to my subject area in the middle/high school. Any incite would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Differs from school to school. While it's obviously advantageous to have an advanced degree there are many fine teachers at many fine schools across the country who have not yet earned a Masters.
